Use Microsoft Authenticator safely
- Approve a prompt only when you just tried to sign in.
- Check the app and location shown. Number matching does not make an unexpected prompt safe.
- Never share a verification code, screenshot, or temporary access code. IT will not ask you to approve a random prompt.
- If an unexpected prompt appears, choose Deny and report it to IT immediately.
- Keep iPhone notifications and automatic app updates enabled so legitimate prompts work reliably.
If you replaced, reset, or lost your phone and cannot sign in, contact IT. Repeated attempts will not move Authenticator to the new device.
